Dr. Helen Baumer

Dr. Helen Baumer is a funeral celebrant working in English throughout German-speaking Switzerland. She leads funeral, burial and scattering ceremonies, offers advance planning of funeral ceremonies and also conducts bilingual farewells. Besides her native English she speaks Swiss German and High German. Her ceremonies are independent of any cultural or religious affiliation and follow the wishes of the family. She completed a diploma course in funeral celebrancy with Civil Ceremonies UK in 2022/2023 and a certificate course at the Zeremonien-Akademie Switzerland in 2023. In 2024 she was approved for the list of recommended celebrants of Funeral Celebrants of Switzerland. Her earlier career was in journalism, magazines, teaching and translation, and she holds a PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Auckland. She also assists families with the formalities around a death in Switzerland.
