Jörg Bertsch

Jörg Bertsch is a funeral celebrant in Basel and creates funeral speeches and funeral ceremonies. Professionally he comes from the written word. He prepared for this work with training and supervision sessions at the Zentrum für Trauerbegleitung und Lebenshilfe in Dresden, and he undertakes further training regularly. For the preliminary conversation he meets the relatives at their home or at a place of their choice. They talk about the life of the deceased person, and together it is decided what should appear in the speech, where and in what form the farewell takes place, whether music is played and whether relatives take part. Details matter to him in order to draw a rounded picture of the person. Depending on what is wanted, he gives the speech in dialect or Standard German.
